Model answer
Margin = blank space between page edge and all text (e.g. 1 inch all sides, set once in Layout → Margins). Indentation = extra offset of specific paragraphs inside margins (e.g. first line pushed right).
Types of indentation (Paragraph → Indents):
- Left/Right — Whole paragraph shifted (quote block).
- First Line — Only first line in (new paragraph style).
- Hanging — First line out, rest in (bibliography: NARC 2023...).
- Mirror — Inside/outside for book printing.
Steps to indent in Word:
- Select paragraph → Home → Paragraph launcher (or Layout → Indents).
- Set Left/Right values (e.g. 0.5") or Special → First line/Hanging → By 0.5".
- Alternatively drag triangles on ruler: top = first line, bottom = rest.
- OK → check Print Preview. For thesis, set Styles → Normal → Modify so all paragraphs follow automatically.
