A computer is an electronic device that takes raw data as input, processes it according to instructions, and produces output as useful information.

Classification based on size and capability:

  1. Supercomputer — Fastest, most powerful. Used for weather forecasting, nuclear research. Example: Fugaku, Summit.
  2. Mainframe Computer — Large, powerful. Used by banks, airlines for bulk data processing. Example: IBM Z Series.
  3. Minicomputer — Medium-sized, multi-user. Used in small organizations. Example: PDP-11.
  4. Microcomputer — Personal-use, single-user. Example: Desktop PC, Laptop, Tablet.
