Cyber Security is the practice of protecting systems, networks, programs, and data from digital attacks, unauthorized access, damage, or theft.
Four types of cyber threats:
- Malware — Malicious software including viruses, worms, trojans, and ransomware designed to damage or gain unauthorized access to systems.
- Phishing — Fraudulent attempts to obtain sensitive information (passwords, credit card details) by disguising as a trustworthy entity via email or websites.
- Denial of Service (DoS/DDoS) — Attacks that overwhelm a server or network with excessive traffic, making it unavailable to legitimate users.
- Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) — Attackers secretly intercept and alter communication between two parties who believe they are communicating directly.
