A computer is an electronic device that accepts raw data as input, processes it according to instructions, and produces useful information as output.
Differentiate Analog and Digital computer:
| Basis | Analog Computer | Digital Computer |
|---|---|---|
| Meaning | Measures continuous physical quantities (voltage, temperature, pressure) | Works on discrete digits (0s and 1s) |
| Data | Continuous signals, e.g. needle movement | Binary data, exact values |
| Accuracy | Approximate, less precise | Highly accurate and repeatable |
| Example | Speedometer, thermometer, old flight simulators | Desktop PC, laptop, smartphone |
| Use today | Special measurement/control systems | General purpose — offices, banks, schools |
In short: analog = measures, digital = counts. All modern office computers in Nepal are digital computers.
