The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) has announced one Computer Operator position at Level 4 on a contract basis. The vacancy is listed under advertisement number 4/2083/84, and the application fee is NPR 500.

This guide covers only the Computer Operator vacancy. The original notice also contains other positions, but their qualifications, levels, fees and vacancy numbers do not apply to Computer Operator applicants.

Deadline warning: The notice sets 2083/05/04 within office hours as the final application time. This article is being published on that stated deadline. Before travelling or paying the fee, check the official AEPC vacancy page (opens in a new tab) for an extension or newer instruction and confirm that the office is still accepting applications.

Who can apply for the Computer Operator position?#

According to the Computer Operator row in the official notice, an applicant must have:

  • passed at least Grade 10 from a recognized educational institution; and
  • completed at least three months of basic computer training.

Do not use the bachelor-level qualifications or work-experience conditions printed for the other positions in the same notice. Those belong to Engineer, Administrative Officer and Technical Assistant applicants—not to the Level 4 Computer Operator vacancy.

If your academic qualification requires an equivalence decision, the notice says that you must submit a copy of the equivalence certificate.

Documents to prepare before applying#

The shared application instructions ask candidates to submit self-certified copies of the documents that apply to them. A Computer Operator applicant should prepare:

  • the completed AEPC application form;
  • a self-certified copy of the Nepali citizenship certificate;
  • self-certified copies of educational certificates and mark sheets;
  • proof of at least three months of basic computer training;
  • self-certified work-experience documents, if being submitted with the application;
  • an equivalence certificate, if required for the academic qualification;
  • two recent passport-size photographs placed in the specified spaces; and
  • proof that the NPR 500 examination fee has been deposited as instructed.

Download the official AEPC application form (opens in a new tab) instead of recreating the form from an unofficial sample. Check that names, dates, certificate numbers and contact details agree across all documents before submission.

Read the original vacancy notice#

The image below is the source notice used for this article. The Computer Operator information appears in row 4.

You can also open the official AEPC vacancy notice PDF (opens in a new tab). When information copied into a post, social-media caption or coaching notice conflicts with the PDF, follow the official document and any later correction issued by AEPC.

How the selection process works#

The notice says that contract staff will be selected according to AEPC's Contract Staff Selection Procedure, 2082. It also provides these important examination conditions:

  • the examination medium may be Nepali, English, or both;
  • only candidates selected through the written examination may participate in the interview;
  • the written examination date will be published later on the AEPC website and notice board; and
  • service conditions and facilities will follow AEPC rules and the terms of the contract.

The official Computer Operator syllabus gives the written examination a total of 50 marks, with 20 marks required to pass. It specifies 25 objective multiple-choice questions worth two marks each, a 45-minute examination, and a 20 percent deduction of the question's marks for each wrong answer. An unanswered question receives no mark and no negative mark.

Always review the official AEPC Computer Operator syllabus (opens in a new tab) yourself before preparing. If AEPC publishes a revised syllabus or examination notice, the newer official document takes priority.

What to study for the AEPC Computer Operator exam#

The syllabus combines AEPC and energy-sector knowledge with practical Computer Operator subjects.

General and institution-related areas#

Candidates should prepare the areas named in the official syllabus, including:

  • general knowledge of the current Constitution of Nepal;
  • types, sources and uses of energy;
  • development of renewable-energy technology in Nepal;
  • AEPC's work, duties and scope;
  • energy policy in the current periodic plan;
  • the Alternative Energy Development Committee Formation Order, 2053; and
  • the Renewable Energy Subsidy Policy, 2078 and Subsidy Mobilization Procedure, 2079.

Use official and current sources for laws, policies and AEPC-specific information. These topics can change, and an old summary may no longer describe the version that applies to the examination.

Computer and office-application areas#

The technical portion includes:

  • computer fundamentals;
  • word processing with MS Word;
  • spreadsheets with MS Excel;
  • presentations with MS PowerPoint;
  • database management using MS Access or an equivalent system;
  • internet and email; and
  • Nepali and English typing.

You can use the Computer Operator MCQ practice area to revise common technical concepts. Because the AEPC paper applies negative marking, do not practise only for speed. Review why each option is correct or incorrect, and avoid blind guessing.

A short preparation plan#

If you have already applied, start with a simple evidence-based routine:

  1. Save the vacancy notice and official syllabus together.
  2. Turn every syllabus line into a checklist.
  3. Study AEPC and renewable-energy topics from official documents.
  4. Revise one technical area and answer a short MCQ set every day.
  5. Practise Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database tasks and typing on a computer—not only through notes.
  6. Keep a list of wrong answers and concepts you guessed.
  7. Watch the AEPC website for the written-examination schedule.

The Computer Operator syllabus library can help you compare shared subjects across institutions, while the past-paper library can show how Computer Operator questions have been asked elsewhere. Use those resources for practice, but keep the official AEPC syllabus as the boundary for this specific examination.

Final check before submission#

Before submitting the application, confirm all of the following:

  • you are applying under advertisement number 4/2083/84;
  • the selected post is Computer Operator, Level 4;
  • the paid fee is NPR 500;
  • the form contains two recent passport-size photographs;
  • required copies are self-certified;
  • computer-training evidence is attached;
  • equivalence documentation is attached if required; and
  • the application reaches AEPC within the permitted time.

Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will not be processed, according to the notice. Keep a copy of the completed form, payment voucher and submitted documents for your own record.

For corrections, extensions, the written-examination date and later results, rely on the official AEPC vacancy page (opens in a new tab).
