A presentation application such as Microsoft PowerPoint stores an ordered collection of slides in one presentation file.

Creating, opening and saving a presentation

1. Create: Start PowerPoint and select Blank Presentation or a suitable template. Enter the title in the first slide. Use Home → New Slide or Ctrl + M to add slides, and choose an appropriate layout. Content can be inserted through placeholders or the Insert tab for text, pictures, tables, charts, shapes, audio or video.
2. Open: Select File → Open → Browse, locate the presentation and select Open. Ctrl + O is the keyboard shortcut, while recent files may be selected from the Open or Home screen.
3. Save: For the first save, select File → Save As, choose a location, enter a meaningful file name, select the required format and click Save. The normal editable format is .pptx. Use Ctrl + S frequently to save later changes. Save As creates a new name, location or format; for example, a presentation may be exported as PDF for fixed-layout sharing.

Slide Master and its importance

The Slide Master is the top-level slide that controls common design and layout properties for the layouts and slides linked to it. Open it through View → Slide Master, modify the master or its layouts, and choose Close Master View when finished.

It is important because it:

• maintains consistent fonts, colors, backgrounds, bullet styles and placeholder positions;
• places repeated elements such as an organization's logo or footer across slides;
• saves time by avoiding manual formatting of every slide;
• allows a global design change from one central place; and
• keeps layouts professional while still allowing different slide arrangements.

For example, adding the Krishi Samagri Company logo to the master places it consistently on all layouts that inherit that master, and changing the master title font updates the linked slides together.
