Model answer
DOS commands are typed in Command Prompt (still useful for troubleshooting). Internal = built-in (DIR, CLS); external = separate files (XCOPY, FORMAT).
- DIR — list files:
DIR C:\Office
Shows files/folders. DIR /W wide view.
- CD — change directory:
CD C:\Office\Letters
Moves into folder. CD.. goes up one level.
- COPY — copy files:
COPY notes.txt D:\Backup
Copies single files; use XCOPY for folders.
- DEL — delete files:
DEL old.txt
Deletes. DEL *.tmp deletes all tmp files — use carefully.
- MD / RD — make/remove directory:
MD Reports
RD Reports
Creates then removes empty folder. RD /S removes with contents.
Bonus accepted: CLS (clear), TYPE (show text file), CHKDSK (disk check).
