Write the task of Arithmetic Logic Unit and Control Unit in brief.

ALU and CU are the two main parts of the CPU, with complementary roles.

Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU): Does all calculation and comparison. Arithmetic: + − × ÷ (e.g. salary total). Logic: > < = AND OR NOT (e.g. marks>=40 → Pass). Result goes to registers/memory. Example: =B2*C2 in Excel is executed by ALU.

Control Unit (CU): Coordinates without processing data itself. Fetches instruction from memory, decodes it, sends control signals to ALU, memory and I/O in correct order, then fetches next. Example: on Print command, CU directs spooler → printer → signals completion.
