Control Panel is Windows' central settings hub to configure hardware, software, users, network and appearance. In Windows 10/11 it is complemented by Settings, but Control Panel still holds core administrative tools.
Tasks performed through Control Panel:
- System and Security — Check system info, Windows Update, Backup and Restore, firewall settings.
- User Accounts — Create/change users, passwords, account type (admin/standard), parental controls.
- Network and Internet — Set up Wi-Fi/LAN, Network and Sharing Center, internet options.
- Hardware and Sound — Add printers, manage devices, sound, mouse, power options, display.
- Programs — Install/uninstall programs, turn Windows features on/off.
- Appearance and Personalization — Change theme, desktop background, screen resolution, taskbar.
- Clock and Region — Date/time, Nepali/English language, keyboard layout (e.g. Nepali Unicode).
- Accessibility — Magnifier, on-screen keyboard for disabled users.
In offices, Control Panel is used to add office printers, create staff user accounts, and set correct date/region before reports.
